The purpose of this project was to increase social awareness about a topic and visualize the data in a single page of information design. This included analyzing data and organizing it creatively, as well as learning how to communicate complex information effectively to a wide range of audiences. The topic I chose to research and analyze was smoking throughout the United States. State by state, I found data for the number of smokers vs. non-smokers, cigarette tax, and life expectancy at birth vs the 10 years smoking takes off life expectancy. Through my research I was able to find that the states with the highest smoking rates have the lowest cigarette tax, as well as the lowest life expectancies.
