In this phenakistoscope, a monster eagerly watches as a spider climbs toward its mouth. The monster, hungry and ready to strike, is trapped within the mirror's confines, unable to harm the spider. As the spider ascends the web, seemingly heading toward its doom, it is revealed that it’s never actually in danger. This piece explores the idea that what appears frightening may not be as dangerous once we face it, and plays with the theme of optical illusions. The tension between fear and safety is visualized, offering viewers the realization that overcoming fear often reveals that the threat was never as real as it seemed.
